ALDARA BIZARRO – I am Myself and the Other

NOV 2018 / Workshop
12 > 16 NOV 2018
E.B.2.3 Naus

In this workshop we will work dance departing from gesture.
To reflect on the real and symbolic meaning of the gestures that we make. To create a lexicon of gesture that is desired for the group, creating a symbolic game. The gesture used as raw material for a dance composition. The gesture to know myself and to know the other. The gesture that is ours.

Aldara Bizarro was born in Maputo, Mozambique. She studied dance in Luanda, Lisbon, New York and Berlin. As a dancer she worked with Paula Massano, Rui Horta, Paulo Ribeiro, Francisco Camacho and Madalena Victorino.
She began to choreograph in 1990 with the piece Me My Self and Influences, awarded in the IV Choreographic Workshop of the Company of Dance of Lisbon. Since then she has signed her dance pieces, which have been presented in the best portuguese venues as such Centro Cultural de Belém, Culturgest, Centro Cultural Vila Flor/ Guimarães, São Luíz, Teatro Maria Matos, highlighting the Love Series trilogy and solos, such as The New Dancer, distinguished by the Público newspaper as one of the best pieces of 2011.
As a teacher she collaborated with the Forum Dança, Superior School of Dance, Belém Cultural Center, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Vila Flor Cultural Center, Artemrede, SMUP and other national cultural centers and theaters.
