SUSANA DE MEDEIROS – Feet on the ground, Head in the clouds

An invitation to take a closer look to the place where we live, and from our daily experiences use our imagination to create forms, objects, words, stories.

Sharing her creative process and privileging the experience, the exploration of several raw materials, and the relations between body and matter, the artist Susana de Medeiros invites us to have our feet on the ground to explore what surrounds us and our head in the clouds to imagine and to fly with our thoughts.

Susana de Medeiros currently lives and works in the Algarve.
Graduated in Law from the University of Coimbra and in Visual Arts from ESAD (Caldas da Rainha), and holds a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Nottingham Trent (England). She teaches in the Visual Arts degree at the University of Algarve since 2007 and is currently doing her Ph.D. in Fine Arts at the University of Oporto.
She has developed several projects in non-formal education (visual arts and cinema) with public and private entities. She joined the cultural associations LAC (Lagos), Xerém (Lisbon), and Tertúlia (Aljezur) and is part of the 289 Contemporary Art Culture Association based in Faro.
Susana has developed several artistic projects in Portugal, but also in Spain (Cuenca), Mozambique (Maputo), England (Nottingham), USA (New York), Russia (St. Petersburg).
