School Sessions – 2nd Cycle

This workshop is an invitation to sit at the table, talk, discuss, plot and eat. There won’t be missing a menu with delicious and politically appetizing dishes, through which we experience different forms of government and characters drawn directly from all over the world and across all times, such as the Bureaucracy turtle, who moves slowly through the system’s maze.
Together, we will try to find answers to several questions: is the king always in charge? Do we all know how to be in charge? And who decides? And how? And whom decides how one decides? What is politics? What is an assembly? Is the family a government or a misgovernment? Who is in charge at home? Is it easy to be fair? Who makes the laws? And what are they for?
Deciding each step of our journey together, through quick and instant assemblies, we will listen to stories, experience the theatre of politics and often switch roles between rulers and the ruled.

Catarina Requeijo is an actress and theatre director. She studied at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema and began her theatre practice in 1990 with TEUC – Teatro dos Estudantes da Universidade de Coimbra.
As a performer, she has worked with numerous directors and since 2000 she develops regular work for young audiences, creating workshops and performances and collaborating with several institutions, including Centro Cultural Vila Flor, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Teatro Maria Matos, Lu.Ca – Teatro Luís de Camões, Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, Comédias do Minho and Artemrede, among others.
She collaborates with Teatro Nacional D. Maria II since 2015 on Boca Aberta, a project for preschool children, where she has directed more than a dozen performances and led training programs for different audiences.
Inês Barahona graduated in Philosophy and has a Masters in Aesthetics and Art Philosophy by the Faculdade de Letras (University of Lisbon).
Under Madalena Victorino’s direction, she was a part of the Centro de Pedagogia e Animação of Centro Cultural de Belém, where she developed projects connecting arts and education for schools, families, and specialized audiences, between 2005 and 2008.
She works in writing, dramaturgy and mediation, collaborating with various artists and organisations.
In 2014, she founded Formiga Atómica, alonside with Miguel Fragata, with whom she has created several performances, taking on the writing and dramaturgy.
Together with Miguel Fragata, she is the author of the book Ciclone – Diário de uma Montanha Russa, winner of the 2020 SPA Authors Award.
